Salt Works is a Main Quest in Lost Ark. Salt Works is part of the main story of Lost Ark and it is necessary to complete it in order to complete the game. However, it is recommended to complete some non Main Quests of your choice to gain additional equipment and level up in order to make Main Quests easier by being better equipped and prepared. Completing Main Quests will eventually lead you to unlock new features of the game and gain a full experience of it.

Lost Ark: Salt Works Information & Walkthrough
To start off this quest, you need to speak to Armen after talking to Baldi. Armen welcomes you and says he arrived early to have a look around, unfortunately he still hasn't found any useful information yet. He says that the nomads told him how you've been helpful to them and suggests that you ask them about the Morai Ruins. Now go back and speak to Baldi and ask him about the Morai Ruins. When asked about this, he says that he thought it was just a myth. He then says that there are monuments with old stories engraved on them in the desert, and maybe one of the monuments is about that place you're looking for. He then says that there should be a monument at the saltern where the bandits are camped out and that Old Man Fobet is there to warn everyone if ever the bandits decides to move out. He then instructs you to talk to Fobet.
Now go back and speak to Armen again. He tells you that perhaps the old monument could whisper secrets about Encavia, he then explains that Encavia is a kingdom that once thrived in Yudia and Morai was the capital city of the kingdom and it suddenly disappeared one day. Armen thinks that one of the monuments might have the story related to Morai engraved to it. He then asks if you could take a look at it, and he'll start asking around for more information while helping the people here.
After your conversation with Armen, the quest is completed and you'll automatically obtain the next main quest Finding the Monument.
